Baby Cannon

17 Weeks and feeling it

Baby Cannon is 17 weeks today! As you can see Pippin is excited about Baby Cannon getting bigger too. Pregnancy is weird feeling. I now feel like a big water ballon is in my lower belly. Odd feeling, but not bad. Feeling way better this past few weeks and eating more things. Bring on Olive Garden any day! Just tired as usual, specially in this Arizona heat. Gets chilly at night and 90's during the day. It's messing with me! And the usual stuffy nose is even worse with this changing weather. I'm very blessed and excited about being able to visit home for Thanksgiving and baby showering, as well as, seeing the whole family!

How far along: 17 weeks
Total weight gain: I don't know
Maternity clothes: Most times and yoga pants!
Stretch marks: Already had em
Sleep: Negatory, I'm going to need a pillow for my hips soon
Best moment this week: Olive Garden soup, salad, and bread sticks
Movement: Yes, but more of like a "roll over" than anything else
Food cravings: salad, cold water, starbursts, waffle fries
Gender: Don't know, feeling a boy
Labor signs: heck nah
Belly button in/out: way in
What I miss: sleeping and eating my fill. Eat too much and feel sick
What I'm looking forward to: Baby bump!
Milestones: was able to walk at least a mile before being totally spent

Getting Crafty

Since I've decided to do the pregnancy chalkboard weekly tracker pictures, I wanted to have a place to put them for whenever Baby Boom grows up and, of course, for me. My dilemma being I have never successfully done a scrapbook and finished it. So trip to Michael's! I found a simple book that had already colored and decorated pages, but some were still blank...Bluh. I figured I would find someway to remedy that. I picked up a few pregnant scrapbook decorations as well. ( Go when they have sales! Otherwise it gets so expensive and still was for me with 40% off. Online coupons peeps)
Pinterest comes in next. I recently found a blog where she watercolored a journal for one of her friends' daughter. It looked awesome! Here's the blog and my inspiration - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=367219.0#axzz2fwe3ZMgY
So mine isn't anywhere near as cool or awesome as hers, but I had fun and the pages aren't boring white anymore. Biggest complaint was waiting for it to dry - time consuming. Here's some more  of my favorite pictures. My other ones were too bad to post haha.

It gave it a rustic, old feel. Like I said, hers was way better, but I'm still pleased with the outcome and eventually it'll be filled with my pregnancy experiences and pictures as I grow. The contents are more important than the look, though I did make it look better

Baby Update
Went to the doctor today and heard Baby Boom's heartbeat. I forgot to ask how many beats per minute, but last few times it's been between 150 and 160. Baby is cooking well and seems kosher so far. A blessing for sure. I asked about the random sharp pains down there on the sides of my stomach and figured it was the baby growing and all those ligaments and muscles moving and adjusting, the good doc confirmed my thoughts, but it's good to ask. We don't have a bump yet but feeling "flutters" and "bubbles" in there and, also, my lower belly is getting hard so maybe the bump will pop soon. Next doc appointment is in four weeks and ultrasound in three weeks. Doesn't make sense to me either, but I'm not complaining. I'll get to see an even better picture of Boom :) and look even more like a baby! Yep yep! Also, I am pretty sure if we have a girl, I finally have a name. Josh is iffy, but I think my assurance that this is the name I'm almost positive I want he is coming around. I mean come on!  I wasn't allowed to have a say if it's a boy! I get the girl name. It's only fair ;)
It's two days shy of 16 weeks but I'll go ahead and do my survey and if I can find the other one I found I'll add some of that one too!
How far along:15 weeks 6 days
Total weight gain: 2-3 pounds
Maternity clothes: yes and I love pants that don't squish my belly
Stretch marks: Already had em
Sleep: What sleep? My hubs hogs the bed and nose is stuffed, then the tinkling
Best moment this week: feeling random "flutters" :)
Movement: "flutters" "bubbles"
Food cravings/aversion: cereal, waffle frys, ensure, cold water, Eggo waffles, CARROTS
Gender: I say boy, Josh says girl
Labor signs: why heck no
Belly button in/out: way in there
What I miss: sleeping
What I'm looking forward to: baby bump!
Milestones: feeling better and prenatal yoga-feels good

Exercising Prego Style
I did this workout today. I have actually bought a dvd prenatal yoga stretch on Amazon and was too lazy to put in in the dvd player. Hence, youtube! Bones on the TV and prego yoga on my laptop. Bones was super quiet, by the way. Anyway, I feel it's super important to exercise while pregnant especially when I'm considered overweight. I haven't done hardly any type of exercise due to not feeling well in well over 2 months (boo on me) and today I buckled down and even feeling the normal tired I did this very simple routine. Stretching, breathing, little strengthening and some squats. Lets just say I was tired... I'm so out of shape but it felt awesome. All my endorphins are going, I'm pleasantly tired without being exhausted and I feel good about myself for not letting my sickly-ness of pregnancy stop me. I plan on doing this and my actual dvd I bought daily. It's hard to go walking outside in the desert in the heat so this is my second option for a few more weeks until it gets out of the 100's and high 90's, even at 7 at night! Ugh. But I would suggest this to anyone who hasn't done some kind of exercise in a while and doesn't overextend or position awkwardly, and really made me miss my mom's yoga classes back home when she taught.

Everyday Life

Boring...
Nothing new to report in the Cannon household. We both worked a lot this week. My most fun is watching our critters be...well critters.
Leopold is making every cat proud by living up to their box, cubby hole loving reputation. Pippin is somewhere out of the picture bugging him.

We, also, went on a putt putt outing. My feet got hot and started feeling bad, but still a lot of fun with some friends here in the great state of Arizona.
  That's about all folks!
Baby Cannon update will be Thursday or Friday after doc visit. Probably no ultrasound yet so not even a chance to see if Boom is BOY or GIRL

Everyday Life

Newest Family Member
This isn't our puppy, got it from yahoo images.
But he'll look like this pretty fella.

Pippin will have a new little big brother come November 1st! Before we got Pippinator, Josh and I really wanted a bigger dog. Specially when he deploys or right now that he works swings. And we fussed and discussed and rediscussed getting which dog, what kind, adopt etc. I, at first, wanted a straight up German Shepherd. My parents raised and bred them and I honestly couldn't imagine a better family and guard dog. But things didn't work out that way. So I say to Josh what if we get our "own" something breed? That you or I never had? We decided on the Weimaraner.
Sadly, at the time no one had any puppies and litters weren't due until after we left Georgia. So I got our little ornery Pippmiester. And I love this mess of fur! He is such a ball of energy that I realized that he really needed a playmate instead of constantly terrorizing the cat. Leopold, the cat, loves him, of course, and cries something awful when we take Pippin outside, but is an old souled cat and doesn't always deal with Pippin in his face well.
Now fast forward to this past Monday. Weimaraner puppies arrived! My email reads. It was a lady that owns a farm in a little town next to mine in Georgia, whom I had contacted before I left and remembered my interest and the puppies would be ready October 28....guess who comes home Nov 1? This chick! So the Pippinator gets a new little big brother and I can't wait because I know their energy levels are going to match and wear each other out. And I'll have a big dog in the house to help me feel more secure when Josh isn't able to be with me.
Any name ideas? I love the idea of Merry. Pippin and Merry were best friends in Lord of the Rings and I thought it'd be cool. Josh is also liking my Fili or Kili idea too, but we'll see!

Baby Cannon

Preggo Observations
  1. If you're pleasantly plump don't expect a bump anytime soon
  2. You will never fully understand the meaning of exhaustion until week 6 through now
  3. Grapes are a good idea
  4. Don't eat enough...you get sick. If you eat too much... you get sick.
  5. Nothing helps nausea - not pepto, ginger ale, or tums. Brace yourselves.
  6. Don't expect your husband/significant other to even remotely understand the meaning of you not feeling good....because they won't.
  7. If you are nauseous and at this week you're prolly hungry or need to poo....trust me, just go sit on that toilet and wait...it'll come.
  8. Or from  #7 you're constipated... good luck with that.
  9. Your eyesight will change, and tiny writing on the TV, like football scores in the lower corner, will not be seen.
  10. Boobies grow fast. Be prepared.
  11. Dreams are very very...very disturbing sometimes
  12. Your hair will either fall out or grow awesome.
  13. Your nails will put Wolverine to shame
  14. If you got the baby glow, you lucky turd you. To you others who got acne and bacne and bad hair...I feel you.
  15. Whether you don't need to tinkle while sitting down, you will as soon as you stand up, like bad, you better hurry.
  16. Getting ultrasouds hurt like the devil when you are plump because they got to get through your extra layer of insulation. And they don't care if your hipbone is there or not!
  17. Drink water as often as you can...it actually helps everything.
  18. No matter how much water you drink, you'll get a headache from hades that'll last days and days and days...
  19. You won't crave anything good for you...unless you are just one of the lucky ones. Other wise it's anything from cake to cheese-its, and gold fish.
  20. No matter what, everything will be worth it in the end.

Everyday Life

Cable in the Cannon Household!
I don't know about everyone else, but I feel like I've won the lottery. Cable....yeesss...
I'm soaking up the U.S. Open right now and this weekend it's all about football!!! GO BUCKEYES! I've been without cable for a year.  Josh and I got married a year ago this month and since then I didn't see any reason to get it. Needed to save money where we could. But not anymore! I'm just basking in my happiness and having a football connection with the fams this year. It is apart of what my holidays with my family always consisted of. Football on Thanksgiving and the bowls around Christmas and New Years. It'll feel a little more like the holidays this year in the desert.

Getting Excited
Now that I'm finally feeling better, the idea of a baby is becoming more exciting.  Yes, I am still scared and feel overwhelmed because I, honestly, am scared that I may not be ready... but who is?  This is a whole new ballgame that I thought that I was prepared for, but I'm not...I have not the first clue on where to start with doctors and pediatricians, the insurance, the birthing classes, and don't even get me started on things for the nursery and handling labor.
But I'm so thankful for my friends who have had babies and told me where to start first, and my mom because even though she lives a thousand miles away I know she'll help me more than I need.
I'm a pinterest junky and today while "pinning" those cute chubby cheeks of all those babies, I felt for the first time the excitement and restlessness to hold my baby and to stroke and stare at their chubby cheeks...It'll be a bumpy, scary road into motherhood/parenthood but I'm finally looking forward to it. There'll be hardships but I think so much more love and fun that anything else will be worth the trials.

Everyday Life

Dog Park with Mr. Pippin
Took the Pippinator to the dog park this past Sunday. His first dog park adventure. Kind of a let down really. All he did was smell and pee all over everything. Josh and I didn't exist, he was too fascinated with the big dogs on the other side of the fence. For a little tike he isn't afraid of anything and hasn't met an enemy either four legged or two. I'm hoping when we move on base in a few months of getting him a playmate. Josh was frustrated with Pippin because he wouldn't listen and was too focused on everything else. This is Josh's legit first pet indoors and all, and doesn't understand animals at all. So I get frustrated with him, but since Sunday he really has tried to listen to me when disciplining Pippin and even now, a few days later, Pippin comes to him more easily. In Josh's defense, though, Pippin is the most distracted, excitable pet I've ever owned and he's stubborn as all get out. My other pets are a dream compared to him.

My favorite shot of Pippin at the park.
I think it captures his personality.

Baby Cannon - 13 Weeks and Feeling... Queasy
It's been 7 weeks since I found out I was expecting Baby Boom. Still trying to convince myself there's a baby inside. Even though we weren't preventing the continued Cannon lineage I was still shocked when, on a whim, I decided to take that last stick out from under the sink and dip the stick in a cup (dipping is so much easier. I mean have you actually tried peeing on those things? Gross and impossible). Few minutes later... one line, then a very faint second. I went to the store and bought another 3 pack :) It's been a blessing and very humbling. I've always taken advantage of not getting sick often. I'm nauseous daily, I have no legit reason to complain. I haven't thrown up or anything just bluh all day. I think the women who do experience that and all through their pregnancy...you women are my heroes and we should be thanking our mothers daily for what they had to go through to bring us into this world.
